  • Eric Sanchez

    Eric Sanchez

    Eric is both Navajo and Mexican and hails from San Pedro, California. He earned two degrees at UCLA: a BA in Political Science, and a JD in Law. He is an MA candidate in American Indian Studies at UCLA. Sanchez worked for the Census Bureau’s Tribal Outreach Program, volunteered with the Learning Rights Legal Aid Center and created a memorial scholarship at UCLA. Sanchez currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Indian Community Council, participates in Furthering Indian Rights in Education (FIRE), serves on the Board of Directors for Pukuu, Cultural Community Services, and advises the Leadership Development in Interethnic Relations program.

  • Chrissie Castro

    Chrissie Castro

    Chrissie, (Diné and Chicana), is an advocate working towards the increased social and political empowerment of the Los Angeles American Indian/Alaska Native community. She is the vice-chairperson of the Los Angeles City/County Native American Indian Commission, and has represented urban American Indian issues in national and international arenas, including Canada, Bolivia, New Zealand, Japan, and with the United Nations. In addition, Ms. Castro is a Senior Consultant with the Center for the Study of Social Policy, providing consultation to a number of community and systems change initiatives in Los Angeles, including work with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, the Los Angeles County Chief Executive Office, First 5 Los Angeles and Casey Family Programs.

  • Annette Phoenix

    Annette Phoenix

    Annette is Tohono O’Odham & Chippewa from Southern Arizona. Annette is currently employed with the City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety and has been employed with them for over 23 years as a Sr. Clerk Typist.

    Annette is a single mother of 4 children, and a proud grandmother of 4 grandchildren.

    Annette serves as a board member for the American Indian Community Council, and serves on the parent advisory committee for the Southern California Indian Center. In addition to her board roles, Annette is very active in the community by providing resources and support for local cultural events, etc. Annette also teaches the youth how to bead and sew traditional regalia.
